Aqaba's Diving Spots

Eel Garden

The Eel Garden diving site is one of the popular and well-known dive sites in Aqaba, Jordan. It is renowned for its vibrant marine life and unique underwater landscapes. The name “Eel Garden” originates from the abundance of garden eels that inhabit the sandy bottom of the area.

Divers who visit the Eel Garden can expect to encounter a diverse array of marine life, including various species of fish, colorful corals, and, of course, the eels that give the site its name. The relatively shallow depth of the site makes it suitable for both beginner and experienced divers, offering an opportunity to observe the rich biodiversity of the Red Sea.

You’d probably see some nice Morays here. There are many Lionfish under coral ledges and some nice black coral bushes, pufferfish, triggerfish, and more. The coral formations are home to small reef creatures, making it a great spot for macro photography.

You can enjoy a dive through at the bottom of one the spurs of coral-be careful with your fins though.

Eel Garden is located to the south of Aqaba, not far from the city center. It’s easy to access.

The eels create an interesting spectacle as they pop out of the sandy bottom and sway with the currents. The site features a sandy slope with coral formations and an abundance of marine life.

The Eel Garden offers dives at various depths, suitable for both novice and experienced divers. Depths range from approximately 5 meters (16 feet) to 25 meters (82 feet), making it versatile for different levels of divers.
